  • The Bed Ladder provides bed mobility independence as it allows individuals to incrementally rise to a seated position without any assistance from other individuals.
  • The Bed Ladder can provide assistance for the following: individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries, those who experience lower limb and trunk muscle weakness/ limited range of motion, individuals post injury/ surgery, pregnant women, individuals suffering from back problems, the elderly, or those with general difficulties with bed mobility.
  • It is at the seated position, that an individual is able to participate in Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) and Leisure Activities; thus gaining independence.
  • The Bed Ladder has five durable and flexible, non-slip handles, providing a secure and comfortable grip whilst pulling oneself up.
  • The Bed Ladder can be easily installed onto a bed leg or bed frame using the secure Side-Release Buckle.
  • The Bed Ladder straps are adjustable, allowing it to fit the individual’s preferences and varying bed heights. Change the length of the bed ladder from 1.7m to 2.3m.
  • The Bed Ladder is portable; allowing for use in hospital, at home or on holiday.
  • For those with limited hand function, the rungs of the ladder are placed further enough apart to slip one’s arm through, to pull the body up without gripping onto the handles.
  • The Bed Ladder makes the task of sitting up in bed effortless. It offers extra support and prevents bed mobility-related injuries.

The For Good Hope Bed Ladder is the only Bed Ladder in South Africa that is locally and industrially made; and we’re pretty proud of that! This makes it more affordable than importing the product into the country; thus more accessible to people with disabilities in South Africa.

Whilst in hospital, one may become familiar with the “Monkey Bar” above the bed for Bed Mobility. However, this can become costly to install at home, it is not portable for those that may wish to travel and it is not economical for those that only need bed mobility assistance temporarily (E.g. those who are pregnant/ recovering from an injury or surgery). The Bed Ladder serves the same purpose; however, it is more cost effective, easier to install and portable!

Features:

  • We use high quality webbing and industrial machines to manufacture the Bed Ladder; ensuring it is durable and reliable.
  • Polypropylene Webbing is used as this material repels water, is easier to clean and is more mildew resistant than nylon webbing.
  • The Universal Design is compatible with most bed frames and individual needs.
  • The Bed Ladder can be hooked onto a hook (not included) on the bed base when the Bed Ladder is not in use. This ensures it is easily accessible when needed. One can use a Shelf L-Bracket, as shown in the image.
