  • Provides an improved grip for a more controlled use of items
  • For individuals with poor coordination, decreased strength in the hand, or a limited range of motion in the joints of one’s hand
  • Can be used for utensils, a toothbrush, writing tools, a stylus pen, and craft tools such as crochet hooks and knitting needles etc.
  • Four sizes (S,M,L, XL) with different inner and outer diameters to fit a variety of different sized objects
  • Three length options: 50cm, 40cm, 20cm

If you require a small tool/ utensil to be used in an activity, but require a large outer diameter as the handle, the SMALL size fits into the LARGE and EXTRA–LARGE sizes.

The Handle only really needs to be as long as the hand/ fingers holding it, so a little bit goes a long way! For instance, a pen grip only needs to be approximately 5-8cm depending on the user; it does not need to cover the length of the pen.

Description

The Built-Up Handle is made from closed-cell foam. This type of foam does not allow any liquid or moisure absorption; thus eliminating the growth of bacteria.

The Built-up Handle instantly creates a larger, more rounded and softer gripping surface on various utensils/ tools. It ultimately, provides someone with the independence to function in activities of daily living (ADLs) and certain leisure activities.

It is advisable to have separate handles for eating, for hygiene related tasks and for other tasks which do not involve liquid substances. This prevents the spread of any potential bacteria.

The handle fits comfortably in the hand and reduces potential pain and cramping. This can often often occur due to over exertion of the joints of the hands as a result of utensils and tools not fitting the hand correctly.

Utensils/ Tools slide easily into the foam tubing.

Each Built-Up Handle package includes instructions for the user.

Built-Up handles are great for conditions such as: Cerebral Palsy, Hand Injuries, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s Disease, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis etc.
